A Brief Introduction to Solar Energy
Posted by Manju in Technology
The cost of energy keeps rising and that is driving people to look for alternatives to traditional energy options. Solar energy has been a major focus as an alternative energy source. It offers many advantages over traditional energy sources, but also has some limitations.
Solar energy is harnessing the sun to make energy. The sun is a free, renewable energy source. In order to use solar energy there has to be a way to capture the energy. Solar panels will collect the sun’s energy and it may be store in battery called Solar Battery Charger. It is important to have a solar storage unit because of the fact that the sun is not always available to produce energy. The major limitation of solar energy is directly related to the ability to collect and store energy, so there is a constant power supply. With solar energy there may be times a back up energy source is needed. The best use for solar energy is for heating. Heating involves little energy transformation, which means it is highly efficient and a perfect use for solar energy.
Another common use for solar energy is cooling, one of them is Solar Fountain. Using solar energy for cooling is expensive, though. It involves phases that gradually cool down the energy. Solar energy can also be converted to electricity. Electricity is made through the use of photovoltaic cells. These cells can generate electricity at 32.3%, which is a much better generation rate then the average electricity generation. As technology improves, though, the use of solar energy for electricity is a very real idea. The advantages of using solar power make it obvious why such hard work is going into harnessing solar energy and converting it into a power source.
Solar power is a renewable resource. Unlike other forms of energy, like fossil fuels, the sun is always going to be available. Additionally, solar power is not polluting. There are no harmful gases or other emissions from the production or use of solar energy.
The major reason that solar energy is such a big idea is that it has been found to be one of the only renewable energy sources that can provide enough energy. Solar energy is able to be produced on a large scale, which allows it to produce more energy then can be used.
As the energy problems continue to grow, it will become more important that we find alternative energy sources.
